A DTF (Direct To Film) printer prints designs onto special PET film with DTF ink and hot-melt powder. After curing, the film can be transferred onto T-shirts, hoodies, sportswear, bags and many other textile products with a heat press. It is suitable for both small batch customization and mass production.
2. What materials can DTF transfers be applied to?
DTF transfers can be applied to most common fabrics, including cotton, polyester, cotton-poly blends, canvas and some treated fabrics. They can be used on both light and dark garments as long as you choose suitable settings and powder.
3. What film size / print width should I choose?
You can choose the film width according to your main garment sizes and order volume. 30 cm is usually used for small studios and hat or kids' designs; 60 cm or wider is preferred by factories and transfer suppliers that need higher productivity and more flexible layout.
4. How fast is DTF printing?
The actual speed depends on the printer model, number of printheads and pass mode. Higher pass and higher resolution bring better quality but lower speed. For a detailed speed reference, please check the specification sheet of the specific DTF model.
5.ls DTF suitable for dark garments?
Yes. DTF uses white ink as a base layer, so it works well on dark garments. When printing on black or dark colors, the RIP will generate a white underbase to make colors bright and visible.
